SHORT CROQUET TOURNAMENT AT NAILSEA

Sun Apr 8, 2007

FOWEY CROQUET CLUB WINS AT FIRST ATTEMPT

Fowey's debut into events organised by the South West Federation of Croquet Clubs proved a great success, with a victory in the Short Team Event at Nailsea on Easter Day.

Playing in the 2nd Division, the team of four, Margaret Read, Stephen Read, David Eldwards and Rosemary Bradshaw (Captain), secured comfortable wins in all their 16 matches against Barnstaple, and thus will gain promotion to the 1st Division next year.

Meanwhile the larger Cornwall Club, winners last year, fared less well, with only 7 wins, and consequentially relegation.
