We 've started!

The Fowey Croquet Summer Season is now well under way, after an unfortunate start due to the very heavy rain, followed by 'motor traffic' driving over the playing area!

The Croquet Lawn has now moved with the backing of the College to an area slightly further from the pavilion and our gallant mowing team headed by John Anson and George Cussans are working hard to improve the quality of the grass.

Richard Tuxford for the College has made a ruling that no cars whatsoever are to drive on to the playing field, so we must now park at the top and walk down. Please do remember this request.

We look forward to both Club Sessions on Mondays, afternoons at 2pm and evenings at 6.30.

Chairman of the C.A. Development Committee visits Fowey Club

Patricia Duke-Cox, Chairman of the Development Committee for the Croquet Association will be visiting us on Monday 16 th May at 2pm. It would be great to have a good turn out of members, particularly as she has helped us to obtain equipment already, and could well help us in the future.

Did you spot the deliberate mistake in your printed newsletter no. 6? (I didn't (sec)).

Cornwall Croquet Club formal opening date is 15th May and not as appeared in the last newsletter. We are invited to this event at Porthpean which commences at 2.30pm followed by a match between two top class players, Cliff Jones and Mike Hoggett, and then tea. Please let Reg know if you will be going so that he can give an indication of numbers for seating and tea.

Dates for your Diary:

Tuesday 7 June at 3.30pm - Myrtle House (Janet Howard's house)

Strawberry Cream Tea - Strawberry Jam, Scones, fresh strawberries and cream, not to mention a cuppa. Cost £4 per head.

Monday 4 July at 6.30pm - College Pavilion

Summer Party - Food contributions would be welcome from those attending (please liaise with Janet Howard on 832405). There will be a nominal charge of £1 per head towards funds and we just ask you to pay for your drinks and have a fun evening.

Monday 1 August at 2.00pm until 6.00 - Pencarrow House

Play Croquet in a delightful setting in the gardens of Pencarrow House - Cost £4 per head excluding food, for which please make your own arrangements.

If you wish to attend any of these events would you please use the slip attached to your printed newsletter and return in good time as we do need to know the numbers attending each event. Thank you.
